6. Peng Meng

With his eyebrows blowing in the wind, his mustache twisted at the ends
The children cry when he walks by – he’s Peng Meng the wicked man

Peng, Peng, here comes Peng

Peng Meng was a wicked man
He was a jealous student of Houyi
He schemed up an evil plan
to steal the magic pill from Chang-e

While Houyi took his students out hunting he pretended he was ill and stayed
With his sword by his side, a little visit to Houyi’s house he paid

“Houyi is a foolish man. He doesn’t deserve eternal life
But I am worthy and I will do great things
I shall dive into the stars”

Envy, oh, envy – makes the wicked man rise

Peng, Peng, wicked Peng

He burst in on Chang-e and threatened her with his sword
Demanded that magic pill so he could become an immortal lord
But Chang-e couldn’t win against him, she only had one thing to do
She took the elixir herself and became a fairy on the moon

7. Climbing Up the Stairs

Her  mind was racing, her  feet were still
Should  she climb up the stairs, protect  the pill?
Her toes were itchy, her  hands they sweat (sweat, sweat)
Could the pill take away the trouble she met?

The Buddhist tale mentions a famous Hare in Varanasi
It’s heart was pure like snow, it was virtuous and classy!

For Uposatha day the Monkey brought some mangoes
The Jackal stolen milk, and the Otter smelly fishes

But oh! The Hare offered his own meat!!

The Hare in Varanasi shook its fur three times
To clean it from insects before its sacrifice

Lord Sakka lit a fire when the twigs were red and the flames were high
The Hare jumped into them

Lord Sakka was shocked before so much virtue
To exalt the Hare’s wisdom, drew its figure on the moon

That’s how up to these days, when the nights are clear
We can still see the Hare carved on the bright sphere
