Solar/Lunar
Solar/Lunar: The Legend is the first production from The Illumin8tors. It is almost your typical rock band gig, but magically transformed into a broader artistic expression with a consistent theme from beginning to end and featuring acting, dancing and a strong narrative in addition to the expected rock’n'roll elements. The songs of Solar/Lunar: The Legend and their mis-en-scène are nourished by Chinese ancient myths related to the the sun and the moon, and also featuring elements of Capoeira culture from Brazil.

Houyi is the archer charged with the task of shooting nine suns out of sky after ten suns decided to all shine at once, making the surface of the Earth practically impossible to live upon.

Chang-e, his wife, swallowed the pill of immortality while he was away performing his thankless task. For her transgressions she was banished to live for eternity on the moon.

Thankfully she was not alone there – she kept company with the Jade Rabbit, who will narrate our tale.
Also living on the moon was Wu Gang, the woodcutter doomed to attempt to fell the never-falling Cassia Tree.

So amazing! When does the rock opera come on tour to meiguo? Can’t wait to see and participate in it!
